In November 2003, Gruen Associates was awarded the AIA Los Angeles Chapter 25-year award for the landmark Pacific Design Center. The world famous “Blue Whale” is the home of the contract and residential furnishing industry in Los Angeles. This award is given annually to commemorate projects that, by the quality of the design, have made an important contribution to the architectural landscape. Ki Suh Park, FAIA, FAICP, Gruen Associates Managing and Design Partner, Cesar Pelli, FAIA, former Gruen Associates Partner, and Charles Cohen, the present Owner of PDC accepted the award at the AIA Awards Gala.
